Network Organisers: Lynn Huggins-Cooper & Lucy Farfort

Lynn teaches on the BA (Hons) in Creative Writing at Falmouth University. She also works as a writing mentor and editor. She is a Municipal Liaison for NaNoWriMo, and she was a judge of The Rubery Award in 2022.

In her own creative practice, Lynn is a widely published author and have written more than 300 books for major publishers. She has written series fiction (including the Too Ghoul for School series that Nintendo DS made into an interactive book-game), picture books (including One Boy’s War for Frances Lincoln), educational books, YA and adult fiction, and non-fiction. She has also been a weekly features writer at the Times Educational Supplement and have written for many other newspapers and magazines including The Independent, Prima, BBC Learning, National Geographic Kids and more.

Lynn has been a keen attendee and facilitator of writing and critique groups for many years, and she is keen to support the development of SCBWI even further in the northeast.

Lucy Farfort is an illustrator and author based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, who works with a mixture traditional and digital art.

Lucy was an Undiscovered Voices finalist in 2016, and after winning first prize in illustration for Faber Children’s inaugural FAB Prize competition, she has gone onto work with a number of publishers and clients such as Faber, Little Tiger Press, Knight's Of, Scholastic and arsEdition.

Her debut picture book as an Author-Illustrator, 'In Our Hands’ from Tate Publishing, was longlisted for The Little Rebels Award, shortlisted for the Jhalak Prize, and is the focus for the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education’s ‘Back to School Unit’.
