An award-winning author and former chimpanzee keeper, Brenda is happiest when her work indulges her love of both beasts and books. She has served as editor of the Los Angeles Zoo's award-winning magazine, ZOO VIEW for more than a decade. Recent kids titles include THE COOLEST STUFF ON EARTH for NatGeoKids and ANGELA & LULINGU: TWO GORILLAS, A WORLD APART for Blue Sneaker Press. Her novels MONKEY LOVE and MONKEY STAR were published by Penguin/NAL. Brenda scripted several episodes of the Disney Jr. series CHUGGINGTON. Her short story "Alphabet Games" won grand prize in the 2015 Writers Digest Writing Competition. In her spare time, she's an animal transport volunteer (aka avian ambulance driver) for SoCal Parrot Rescue.
